Evolution of Beauty

During our study on identity we will discuss the concept of beauty. The world in general defines beauty by our external appearance. Several years ago, the makers of Dove soap ran a series of ads that gives visible evidence why our perception of beauty is so distorted. Watch the following commercial and give me your thoughts in at least 50 words by Sunday 2/1. Video

  1. The world defines beauty as an external appearance. The video was interesting. They had transformed the lady's face so much with make-up and technology. This becomes an affect on people's life because they start to loose their identity or start not liking who they really are because the make-up and technology made them look different and prettier. They think that the world will accept them because of that. This also has a major effect on the low self-esteem of people. The video showed how people are changed with the use of make-up and think that people will like them better because of that.

  2. The world has been change because the technology and human evolution. The video talk about the dresser doing the make up for the lady's. After that, they use techology to change the shape of her face and make her prettier. And they take picture for her and post that on the commercial board to show everyone, and make people think that is the real picture of her face. Make up your face can make you more beautiful and change your identity, but you never can change the heart inside of you. The world beauty already distroy by human technology, and to find the truth beauty thay only can find inside of peoples heart.

  3. This video shows that being beautiful takes all this unnecessary make up and lighting and certain ways to do your hair and even after all of that you will still be altered by technology to make your picture look like what they want them to to show what they feel beauty is in a woman and in girls. We should put more influence in programs that promote self-confidence and self-beauty in women and girls so that they won't think that you have to live to what society thinks beauty is.

  4. This video illustrates that females go through a lot just to prove that their beautiful. Even though a female goes through all these changes such as hair and make up, new technologies change their whole outlook and makes them look like something their not. I think that we should definitely promote programs that influence self-confidence and self-beauty in all females so that they won't have to rely on make up and editing just to prove to theirselves and society that they are beautiful.

  5. this video showed that beauty in this age is a whole lot of makeup mixed with certain lighting, your hair being done and even after all they use technology to change you even after everything else they have done to you. The ways that they did this did not show true beauty it showed that even without technology you are not yet beautiful and you need technology to be beautiful. We need to focus more on the self-confidence and beauty in every woman and girl instead of what they are doing now.

  6. This video basically shows how beauty is truly disguised. Nowadays women do their hair all different ways and put a bunch of different make up just to make themselves appealing. Beauty is truly found on the inside. This is also kind of false advertisement because the woman in the video did not originally look anything like she did before she had on all of the makeup. The world has changed the true definition of beauty.

  8. The beginning of this video it shows a girl going into a place she looks completely normal but then they mess with her so much that we can't even tell who she is but try to make her more beautiful to the eyes and that's what happens In the real world people want to be accepted so much that they will do anything change anything just for the acceptance of others and that is wrong we need to be who we are And never let anyone change that

  9. The video shows the real secret to models' success. Clothes lines and Makeup producer make money off the peoples insecurities. By "tweaking" images, companies and get an image in a persons head of how they should look that, in most cases, is ultimately not achievable. Some people have gone so far as have parts of there body removed (ex. ribs) to get to these considered appearance and by doing so have opened themselves up to potentially fatal possibilities if the surgeries fail or if they get injured afterwards.

  11. Women now a days are held to a more unrealistic standard than they have ever been. On top of make up which can alter the way a woman looks, models and companies use current technology to further tweak how we see "perfection". I've always thought women should only be held to standards set by God. No one should be able to tell someone how they must look in order to fit in or to be normal.

  12. The world now a day says that beauty, is a woman's physical appearance. They don't look at their real personalities anymore. Now, to see "beauty" it involves putting a lot of make up on a woman , and not only that, but also using technology to edit practically all their features. God says that beauty is not only defined by a person's appearance but also by their personality. Everyone is beautiful.

  13. the meaning of beauty has changed through out the years, this video shows us a woman who goes in looking normal (no make up, hair products etc.) then people come in and put make up on her and do her hair, then they photoshop her whole face and neck to make her look thinner. their definition of beautiful is fake. woman shouldn't feel that they need all those things to look beautiful, it shows that this worlds definition of beauty has changed SOOOO much.

  14. Everyone's perception of beauty is different. Some people see other people and objects as beautiful and others see them as ugly. When we see things in God's perception, Everything and everyone has purpose and beauty. God created us extraordinary and wonderfully and we should not change what God put His paintbrush on.

  15. This video really shows how people natural beauty now a days is disguised. Women do a lot of stuff to enhance their appearance when they're already naturally beautiful. In the video they take pictures of the girl and put make up on her but they still weren't satisfied so they edited her appearance on Photoshop and that is truly sad.

  16. This video was really interesting but I am sad to say it was not very shocking. Beauty has been distorted in so many ways due to media, the pressure it causes and other various things. This women is probably a beautiful woman on the inside and she was not ugly without the makeup and the editing but by changing so much on her and adding so much, they are giving her the idea that she is not enough, that she isn't what beauty really is. We don't realize it but this is exactly what media does to our girls and women (sometimes men) on a daily basis. We have to find a way to break this cycle of insecurities and low self esteem in our girls and women. We have to find a way to get true beauty featured in the media rather than this distorted idea of what beauty is.

  17. This video was interesting cause it show how the meanging of beauty has changed overtime . and now women wear make up and do their hair all nice and they photoshop her whole image just to change the person she is. And it puts pressure on us as women just be something we are not, and why should we have to change just to meet soiciety standards? It shows the difference for the meaning of beauty from different people.

  18. This video was very interesting, the world says that beauty is what is on the outside. This commercial that dove did, showed a some what of a normal women, who most of society would say isn't that pretty, and then they did a time-lapse of her. They put on so much make-up, and photo shopped her so much, that she looked like a super model. Things like that teaches the newer generations a beauty that they can not obtain normally, and puts pressure on them.

  19. Instead of finding the beauty within a person, the world just sees the "outside" beauty. Being beautiful on the outside is important but it is not the most important thing and it doesn't define the person you are. Everyone is born with outside flaws and the world tries to fix them through technology but those flaws shouldn't be fixed because if we are able to see those flaws, we can know how well the product work and if it is real or not.

  20. i find this video quite interesting and quite enlightening. this video shows how you cant believe everything you see and that that is the way people perceive beauty. When actually everyone is beautiful is their own unique way and dont nee any photoshop, makeup, or people telling them that theyre beautiful because they should already know. this video also shows how the media or products/ ads try to trick us and how the government is trying to get us to conform to their type of "beauty".
